Looking at the cartons of ice cream and frozen yogurt at the grocery store this summer, you are going to see a lot of ingredients like High Fructose Corn Syrup, Xanthan & Guar Gum, Corn Sugar, Mono & Diglycerides, Polysorbate, Carrageenan and all sorts of other things that are difficult to pronounce.
For an awesome summertime treat that will avoid unwanted chemicals, and satisfy your sweet tooth, I’ve got a couple of Freezes that are simple, delicious, and even nutritious.
Strawberry Freeze
Ingredients:
4 cups frozen strawberries (or fresh strawberries that you have frozen)
3 Tablespoons agave nectar or honey
½ Cup plain yogurt (avoid yogurt that has sugar as the first or second ingredient)
1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Place all ingredients into a food processor or blender. Blend until creamy. Serve immediately or put into an airtight container and freeze for later.
Banana Blender
Ingredients:
4 bananas (sliced into ½ inch thick disks and frozen—Do not freeze the whole banana)
Optional mix-ins:
2 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter
2 Teaspoons cocoa powder
Other fruit of your choosing
Place the frozen bananas in a food processor or blender and pulse until they are smooth and creamy (you may want to add a little milk to help with blending). Add your mix-ins. Serve immediately for a soft texture or freeze in an airtight container if you like it firmer. Enjoy! Contact our team for local chiropractor care in Meridian.
